It was way too quiet. There should’ve been screaming and roars of victory. There should’ve been the sound of swords going through blood and guts and arrows soaring through the air. But there was none of that. Just silence. It was just you, Thor, Sif, and the Warrior’s Three. Loki had been forced to stay behind under Frigga’s orders, so Odin had sent you in his place. And even though Loki tried to show that he didn’t care, you saw the fear in his eyes when you stepped forward to accept your new sword.

“It’s too quiet.” Sif whispered. Just as the words left her lips, a couple of scrawny looking warriors stumbled towards them. And then all hell broke loose.

Before you knew it, there were lots of soldiers and a couple of really big monsters. You were holding your own and you knew Loki was probably having Heimdall watch you, just in case, but you were proud of yourself. Then you noticed something sneaking up behind Thor. You didn’t want to yell and him take down his protective stance and his momentum, so you ran over to Thor. The knife that was supposed to enter his side entered yours instead.

“Ah!” You screamed. Thor turned around and saw the creature. But it didn’t live long. You fell to the ground by the pile of ash that was your attacker, the knife handle still sticking out of your side.

“Lady (y/n)!” Thor said, cradling your body. You whimpered in pain as you were moved. “Why did you do that?”

“Couldn’t risk…it.” You coughed. He looked over at the others. They just about had the situation finished. Sif saw him holding you as dark spots started to dance before your eyes. She rushed over.

“Thor, is she…”

“She’s still alive.” He said as your body went limp and your eyes closed. “We have to get her to the healers now though!” Sif looked over at the others to see them finishing up.

“Hurry!” She screamed at them. They looked over to see you limp in Thor’s arms as he hoisted you into a bridal carry. Making sure everything was done, they raced over to the three of you.

“Loki’s not gonna like this.” Hogun whispered.

“Heimdall!” Thor called. The Bifrost opened then and pulled them out of the battle field. Thor held onto you tightly, you groaning barely. You didn’t know you had changed realms. You didn’t know that Thor was holding onto you like a child with a teddy bear. You didn’t hear the horns bellowing your return.

“Loki.” Frigga said, pausing him before he could start his spell. She heard the faint sound of the horns, which gradually got louder. She looked over at her son, who had a smile spreading on his face.

“She’s home!” He said, jumping up. He was so excited to see you again. It had only been a few days, but he had spent the entire time worried that you would be injured. He knew you were a skilled warrior, but something about this battle seemed off to him. Frigga and Loki made their way to the main hall, where Odin was waiting as well.

“Here they come.” He said. The doors opened and Thor led the way in. He was holding you in his arms and looked distressed.

“Loki wait!” Frigga said, but it was too late. Loki had left the group and ran up to Thor.

“What happened?!” Loki cried, seeing your pale face.

“She saved my life.” Thor said. “The knife though…” Loki’s hand brushed up against the knife, making you cry out in pain.

“Get her to the healers!” Loki said, running along with Thor. “Please don’t leave me.” He begged you. You were rushed off to the healers room and Loki had to stay outside.

After a few hours, a healer came out and allowed Loki to come in. You were sitting up in bed, your side wrapped tight. You smiled when your eyes found him and he quickly ran to your bed.

“My love!” He said, taking your hand. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m tired.” You said. “But I wanted to see you.”

“Why did you save Thor’s life?” Loki asked.

“He would’ve done the same for me.” You said. “Plus, I’m not that great of a warrior. I couldn’t have done as much work as he did.” Loki kissed you then, silencing you.

“Please don’t ever put yourself in harm’s way again.” He begged. “Please.” You smiled and held his hand.

“I’ll do that as soon as you stop making mischief.” You yawned. You settled back into the pillows and drifted off to sleep. Loki stayed by your side, your hand in his, watching over you as you slept.
